HISTORIC TOWN

OF RAYNHAM

The town of Raynham was established in 1731. For 220 years it was home to one of the countries earliest and most successful iron works. Although it started out as a rural community, Raynham has always been home to many industries. In its early years that consisted of ship building, sawmills, a grist mill and even a shoe factory located on the banks of Johnson’s Pond. The tradition continues to present day with an assortment of commercial businesses along Routes 44 and 138 and is home to farms, conservation areas and recreational spots scattered throughout the town.
